Issues

Transparency & Accountability

I believe our city should be as transparent as they can be to its residents and should always strive to do what's right by their citizens. Our current council does a pretty decent job at this. However, as a resident it can be hard to be fully informed if we do not know where to go for that information. I believe it should be easier to access this information and the tools necessary for the city to stand by its goals of transparency and accountability.

In regard to how our tax money is being used around the city, from what I have seen so far, I do believe the city council has had their bet intentions and has for the most part used it wisely. But I do believe that there are times when other alternatives could have been sought and save some of our taxes for other projects or purposes.

Community

Having lived here for a few years now, I love our city. But I feel as if there is a divide in our city among a few sections of our city. I do believe that the city needs to do a better job to help us come together and get to know our neighbors better. Some of our city events have been great, but I feel as if there is still a lack of communication from our city and engagement from our residents. I will work to help bridge these gaps.

Housing

I do think there should be a limit established for high density housing. Whether that limit has been reached or where this high density housing should be placed, is another matter. However, I do believe that North Salt Lake doesn't have the road infrastructure and planning to support an immense amount of people in it. There should extensizve planning and research done to see if North Salt Lake can provide additional housing to new residents.

Air and Water Quality

I don't think I have to convince any resident here that North Salt Lake water quality is sub-par. And with the amount of heavy industry in our backyards, neither is our air. This is something that was expressed as a concern by a large number of citizens who took a survey handed out to all of us earlier this year. I will make sure to figure out the exact cause and the best solutions to remedy both of these.

Businesses

I strongly believe this city has a lot of potential to be a greater center of activity than it currently has. There have been many times where I'll wish there were better restaurants, retail, and entertainment options right here in our city. The space is there, but I do think businesses looking to relocate or start their business somewhere don't usually think of North Salt Lake as bustling with activity. So it's a barrier we as a city have to break and remind the cities around us that this city isn't just the north of Salt Lake
